Castiglioncello

Castiglioncello’s fortune as a tourist location began during the second half of the 1800 thanks to the mild climate and beautiful landscape.

Today it is one of the most well known beaches of the Tyrrhenian sea.

It is known all over Italy and abroad for its beautiful landscape, for its quality services that it offers and for the high quality cultural and associative initiatives that it promotes.

Indeed, it can confirmed without doubt that Castiglioncello represents the entire borough.

It represents the centre if many activities linked to culture, dance, theatre and many other initiatives which take place above all at the wonderful setting of the Castello Pasquini.

Castiglioncello is considered an important archeological site and is noted, above all, for the numerous tombs discovered in the area.  

Castiglioncello pulls its resources from the maritime commerce and the activities which surround  this.

The Torre Medicea also merits an acknowledgement.

It is situated at the end of the furthest point of the headland:  it was built during the ‘500 to defend the country from the terrible invasions by the Saraceni pirates who tormented many other countries along the whole of the Tyrrhenian sea at that time period.

For those who arrive at the tourist port of “Cala di Medici, there is a wide range of opportunities to explore by sea and by land.

In the northern part of the Tyrrhenian area there is a large concentration of exceptional wealth from natural resources, landscapes, cities rich in history, culture, art and eno-gastronomy.

The port has got 650 boat spaces (10% is reserved for transit vehicles), a boatyard, a yacht club and a large car-park.

It will soon to home to a commercial area with shops etc.
