The beach at Cala Violina, a sandy creek of great beauty, received awards in 2004 and 2005 from the Legambiente (Environmental Association) for being one of the eleven most beautiful beaches in Italy.
Cala Violina is hidden by two headlands and is characterised by its fine white sand and particularly transparent water with a sea marine life of such rare beauty. The sea bed is formed of the Poseidon Oceanic and large sandstone rocks, from which fish of all different sizes can be spotted.
The Poseidon Oceanic seaweed which carries out an important role against erosion of the coast, oxygenates the water, plays an important role in the cleaning and transparency of the waters which are littered by the remains left after sea storms also along the beach areas.
At the Cala Violina, we can find picnic tables and benches hidden amongst the scrubland. There is also a large beach with crystal clear sea water.
The name of the beach comes from the type of fine white sand , so special that is produces a kind of “suono di violino” (violin music) sound when you walk along it in bare feet.
The coastal area is surrounded by green landscape formed by a dense and vigorous Mediterranean scrubland.
