Torraccia Beach

A few kilometres north of the crossroads which lead to the Gulf of Baratti, along the via della Principessa you will find Torraccia Beach.

The name comes from the look-out building which is situated on the right-hand side of the road for those travelling in the direction of San Vincenzo.  The remains of a ring shaped tower which has protected the Val di Cornia since the 17th century.

The beach is the last rocky part before the beginning of the sandy coastline which winds uninterrupted until reaching Vada.  A short distance from the shore you can find the reef (rock) “Lo Stellino”, which is noted in the area for the concentration of fish and well known from outside the area for the presumed sighting of sharks which are however very rare in these waters.
