From the grounds of Fossederi Farm Holiday it’s possible to see the four hamlets which form the Comune of Santa Luce:
Pieve di Sante Luce, distance 800m, and it is the nearest town to Fossederi, and is known for the antique Pieve Romanic di Santa Maria Assunta e Sant’Angelo, which dates back to the 19th century.
Each year, during the first week in May, along the village streets, the “Sagra del Baccello e della Fragole “(the bean and strawberry festival) is organised. There are stands with eno-gastronomical products, music and various attractions for children and others.
Santa Luce is 5 km from Fossederi and is a characteristic town which is overlooked by the medieval fortress.
Within the borough structure it is possible to visit the library and the archaeological museum with Etruscan ruins.
Village festivals are also organised at Santa Luce during the summer period to revive the village and promote typical local products.
The village is situated on the border of the Macchia Mediterranea (Mediterranean scrubland), where a local family own a large breeding farm of Cinta Senese pigs, which can be observed from the unmade road which crosses the woods and links up to Santa Luce and Chianni.
Pastina and Pomaia, are two villages immersed in the Pisan woody hills, and are situated about 8 and 13 km from the farm holiday.
The first, typical Tuscany village, is characterized for its Etruscan origin and the presence of some tombs, which date back to the Etruscan period; the second, Pomaia, is noted for the biggest Tibetano Buddist centre in Italy, and it has hosted the Dalai Lama here many times.
